the pagers had specific firing protocols so just turning the thing on wont trigger it.

it literally gave a special message that said "ERROR" and needed the user to hit a button to set it in motion

While I agree there, it looks like two wires go into the plastic, the code would simply be the trigger to activate the detonation. You can circumvent that if you apply voltage to the leads, bypassing any logic circuits.

Well, jew pagers should cause concern for supply chains. Wariness could be caused by excessive delivery delay, strange routing information, basic war protocol of checking new equipment, and probably a number of other things.

What purpose do the Russians have for faking this? It would only make their own troops more paranoid.
