My favorite car I ever owned was my 1955 Chevy Belair. I've owned better, but that was the one I still kick myself for selling.

1995 Holden Commodore VS.

you didnt want to be on a red light on a wet day uphill. no traction control, 3.8l v6. you touch the accellerator on a wet day at lights, it spins up. every. fucking. time. level start in wet at red light, you had to let go of the brakes and let it start on its own, THEN put your foot down.

VT - same engine, same gearbox, about a ton and half heavier, not even comparable. will go past the 260kmh on the speedo easily on.... certain roads in west melbourne.

doesnt stop very well tho unless you have one of the performance models youre supposed to go that fast in... tfw spongy brakes coming down the back side of mt macedon and smelling nothing but smoke.... whoops. that poor girl.

I actually had to look that up, hadn't heard of it before. Gives off Toyota Camry vibes, sounds like it had some balls!

Great motor though. The 3800 is one of the best GM ever made. Not the most powerful but incredibly reliable. Up there with the Ford 4.6 Modular.

oh hell yes, ive had... 4 different Commodores with Ecotech or Alloytech and they just hit different. You put your foot down in an older v6 commodore it sucks you back into the seat. The falcon ive got now (4lt Barra inline 6) you put your foot down and im like 'wheres the power?'
Falcons are like driving a beige cardigan. Put your foot down, it whines, goes 'yeah ok ill speed up' and then it goes.
Commodore is chicken parma on wheels, you go to the dealership, you test drive everything, but you already know youre buying the commodore in the corner. by the time youre like 'i better speed up' a commodore is like 'what was that? MORE?' and you have to slow down...

Pontiac supercharged it. Probably the best version to get. Did Aussies get any supercharged 3800s?

I had a 1953 Willis Jeep. You could get it up to 55 going down hill. LOL! I Loved that jeep! I also had a 73 Plymouth fury. That baby was fast. Once you got it above 100mph it was like you were floating. I traded it for a 1965 dodge dart. The dart wasn't as fast but it was pure pleasure to drive. I'd love to have them all back.

oh lord my first motorcycle, 2012 Kawasaki Ninja 250. Was pretty good when i first got it, but wasnt long before youd find on long rides youd often only hit 140.... if you were going downhill in a head wind. EXCELLENT for city riding/courier work, and for throwing around serious twisties with not many straights between them. Everywhere else... eeeeeh.... and im not short, so long highway rides often involved me leaning down under the cowling with my elbows on my knees. enough balls and knees down, on a proper twisty ride like whats around where i live now, you can keep up with a litre bike, get off at a petrol station, and laugh at r1 owners who 'need a fucking break'... theyre fucking their wrists and ankles racing like its motogp and im sitting in 4th or 5th with a steady throttle.

Vulcan 900 is a bit more comfortable... but wearing the wrong helmet literally tries to rip my fucking head off if i take off too hard and definitely doesnt do corners well and is not fun braking downhill on dirt or wet road, fucking arse end keeps swinging around on me.

You probably were floating at 100+ mph. Aerodynamics and downforce were in their infancy in the 70s. Might have been generating some lift at that speed.
