First novel I ever read that was not prescribed was FIRST BLOOD

I guess I was about nine or ten and not yet into big fat books with chapters that end in the hundreds.

First rate novel always rated in my top ten, FIRST BLOOD.

The movie is one of the very rare intersections where a great novel meets its cinematic equal.

First rate acting, first rate directing, first rate sound (you can feel his heart beating) first rate, explosives, FIRST RATE STORY,

First rate story, novel, movie, FIRST BLOOD.
