Just watch how fire resistant shingles are, and realize most of those homes are made with Spanish style shingles. The houses are made from stucco. Also the commercial properties are made from brick. I don't know how the fuck these things are catching on fire miles and miles away.
And the ocean side properties... last time I checked the winds were blowing west to east... meaning onshore winds... how does a fire hit a beach property that way again?

This is an excellent point. Most decent houses in LA built in the 90s and later are in this configuration. The heat of the fire would have to be extreme levels of hot and I'm not even sure if either of them actually burn, they might fall apart from the heat.
The houses are separated by sidewalks and streets, although they are packed pretty damn close together.

I just don't believe this shit at face value. Cars catching fire that are parked in the middle of the street with nothing around it for 30-40 feet? And the whole car catches on fire?
I try to point this sort of thing out to people, but it's frustrating how often it feels like running into a brick wall. I'm talking about the language/concept issue. Ask people to be critical about the language they hear. This term: hotspot. Heard it before? Don't just accept new terms uncritically. What's this term capturing? What are people trying to do with it? To me, hotspot suggests an analogy to nature. Oh, ya got a hotspot, darn it. A hotspot sounds a lot different than a target.
Unfortunately, most people just want to shut off in front of a t.v. and stuff their faces.
Organized arson. "Bro, it's just a descriptive phrase." No, that's a weapon. People are shaping your beliefs about something. You should be way more critical of how that's being done. Why use this term rather than attack (that happens to involve fire)? Because they don't want to evoke that concept.
this is true. Also the news NEVER says the word arson anymore. It's not even a possibility. Not even when I think it was 95% of 'Wild Fires' turned out to be arson, and a fuckload of those arson were firemen.
Ask people to be critical about the language they hear.
This requires a certain amount of intellect and/or training. The majority simply buy into any/all propaganda. It's why we need to gain control of and/or master propaganda machines/techniques.

Do you think this concept could be used to obscure facts related to arson?
