What does an eagle feather taste like?

submitted by MaryXmas to Fatherhood 5 monthsJan 7, 2025 22:09:27 ago (+10/-0)     (Fatherhood)

This was a question by my 4 year old. He has exotic tastes already. Update: he is no longer identifying as a crab or robot.

As a father I always tried to give an honest but simple answer without confusing them when they asked me these kinds of questions, and they asked a lot of them. Some were asked out of curiosity, most were asked out of boredom and some were just to be annoying, lol. I would answer this question with, well feathers aren’t food, it will probably taste like paper or cardboard because you’re not supposed to eat feathers or taste them. That’s why you’ve never heard of feather soup or feather sandwiches. But you have heard of feather hats, you’re supposed to wear it not eat it. By this time in my answer they would be getting sleepy which was my intention all along. I sure had fun being a dad. (Are you feeling a bit sleepy now?)

They are dreaming of eating feathers and wearing eagle meat on their heads during your explanation.

God bless them kids.

I said probably like a chicken feather and he can get one from the barn to give it a shot.

Tonights question was "how do you live in a house". On nights like tonight, I really don't know ..

Does your son have any other weird eating habits? I would keep a close eye on him.

Observing it and cosigning it are two very different things. Kids like to pretend. We can pretend with them, but we shouldn't support delusion.

You know how I like to accept money in brown paper bags and teach kids about how wonderful George Soros is.
