Actually they even greater irony about all these camps is that they were safety camps. Remember these people were transferred out of cities in Germany that were later bombed into a Oblivion and the civilians were killed. The fire bombing of Dresden is just one example. Every person that was transferred to one of these safety camps was better off than the people who were living in Dresden and other cities that were being bombed and killed by the hundreds of thousands and millions. And when they weren't being bombed and killed they were living in total terror. They didn't have pianos they didn't have plays they weren't being fed food that was given to them and they weren't being clothed. They were scrambling for whatever they could find on the streets of bombed out cities if they weren't dying in flames.

So when we look at all these people who were in these camps it's really important to remember that. Those camps were the best place to be in Germany.
