This is in response to Ukrainian Orthodox Church being outlawed by Zelensky earlier this year.

I don't really keep up with Ukraine but this is interesting, have any of you heard about this?

Yeah the Ukrainian government said the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is effectively subservient to the Russian Orthodox Church and that the Russian Church is just an extension of the Russian state. No idea how much truth there is to that accusation but banning churches for any reason is never a great look imho - even if they are pro-Russian, church participation is obviously always voluntary anyway.

Yea, they closed down all Orthodox Ukraine churches and jailed the orthodox clergy for speaking out against it.

This was on top of banning the Russian language in Ukrainian school and its everyday use in Govt.
