It's from a lifetime of trusting the "experts", then just repeating verbatim the talking points that he's heard, simple but not effective here unlike the majority of people in the world that follow the same method.

Brave my ass! they were led blindly into a grinding machine! That's not brave, That's stupid! There is a time for bravery, but, this wasn't it! The Ukraine was a pawn, in a global game that they weren't prepared to play in! There's nothing brave about dying needlessly in an engineered battle that you can't win!
