It just got passed a few hours ago. Every Australian will now have to prove who they are through a government censor with biometrics verification to access social media, forums, etc.

We are done, there will be no more Aussies online.

ID requirements for internet are of course completely unrequired to put this in place or enforce it.

And there was me thinking they did a good thing... Although, this means we could see the critical mass of people using some form of other-net coming out of oz in a few years

Do kids nowadays no longer get the "social media is dangerous" riot act like they did in the '90s? What ever happened to "experts say to limit internet/computing to less than 1-hour per day"? Oh right, a politician on TV said it's OK now, but to be sure they need to spy on everything.

It's a globohomo bait and switch using the dangers of social media on the young and impressionable for sleight of hand introduction of wide sweeping digital ID for any and all online access - otherwise how can you ensure minors are being prevented from gaining access unless Adults have also all been age verified.
