We're better at recording than we were then, so you might be correct. It sounds a little off to my ears but not far enough to worry about it. It'd work just fine in a bar or even in front of a big audience.

I can be pretty picky with my tone. That's one of the reasons why I own all the gear I own.

At the same time, there are times when I don't give a shit about perfection. It's only got to be 'close enough for who it's for'.
