Why Do Some Middle-Class People Act Arrogantly

If you have ever been on the receiving end of an arrogant remark from someone who is middle class, you are not alone.

There are people I know who would look at me from head to toe. It was a previous batchmate who took further studies in law.

The guy had an ego issue — so, meeting him after several years — I was not surprised that he is the very person with a high ego.

Some in our neighborhood act as if they bought you already.

Simply looking at their faces — tempts me to say unloving words to them. Good thing that I can still hold on to my lever if I do not watch out for my behavior — they eventually get into my skin.

Whenever I fall into the trap, I slap myself to shift my attention to other things.

It is a phenomenon studied by sociologists and psychologists alike, and there are a few theories as to why it still happens today.

Read on to learn more about why some middle-class people act arrogantly.

Theory #1: They’re trying to distance themselves from the working class.
The Middle-class upbringing was significantly different from their working-class counterparts.

They had parents who were professionals, opportunities to travel — and learn new things — and a general feeling of security in their future.

Working-class people often grew up in poorer neighborhoods, with parents who worked multiple jobs to make ends meet.

As a result, middle-class people may view themselves as “better than” the working class. If you meet these people, acknowledge them — and let them be. Watch them curiously as they play your script.

Theory #2: They feel like they have to prove something.
Many middle-class people also feel to prove their worth to the upper class.

After all, they did not grow up with the same advantages those in the upper class did. As a result, they may act arrogantly to try and fit in or impress those who are upper class.

I know people who try to buy stuff that the upper class has. They are willing to go all out and take a loan to satisfy others around them.

Good thing that I did not fall for the same trap.

Theory #3: They are insecure.
It is also worth noting that many middle-class people act arrogantly because they are insecure.

Remember, they didn’t grow up with the same advantages as those in the upper class, so they may feel like they’re always playing catch-up.

It can lead to feelings of insecurity, which may manifest in arrogant behavior.

Key takeaways
There is no question — arrogance is a turn-off, regardless of what social class someone belongs to

However, it is vital to understand that there may be underlying reasons why some middle-class people act arrogantly.

Whether they are trying to distance themselves from the working class or because they feel like they have something to prove, there is usually more going on than meets the eye.

Cities turn people into arrogant arseholes.

Urbanisation does cause arrogance. Yes, that's right. Probably due to the financial pressure of living in an urban environment with the high living costs and to maintain a self-identifying level of social status and standard of living.

It also leads to plummeting birth rates since it's no longer advantageous to have more hands like when on the farm to assist with labor but instead in the cities it's a financial burden.

Full nudity is the great class equalizer and leveller.

it's everywhere like this where there is a certain prosperity. One wants to separate himself from the other, because he suspects that he has more money, which goes to someone's head rather quickly. It used to be different, everyone had about the same social status: they were all equally 'poor'.

Desperate self-importance. It's the same with extremely wealthy people, and lower class people who pull a gun on you when dey feels disrespekted.

What do your psychologists look like?

I don't have any. I wouldn't pay a shrink even if I could afford it. Now there's a racket profession populated by mostly smug middle class and upper middle class scum with their bullshit theories and pie-in-the-sky.

How much do they cost?

You mentioned psychologist. That means this prissy college boy or girl spent at least 8 years in a post-secondary ivory tower having their family pay their $50,000 per year tuition if they're upper class or rack up unbearable debt if they're middle class so they are already at least a quarter to half a million in debt right when they graduate. So to make back all the money they invested they charge people around $25o an hour to talk about their fucking shit.

Psychiatrists are actual doctors who went to Med school and are licensed to prescribe and charge north of $400-500 per hour and usually work in institutions.

If they only got a 2 year counsilling program license they can work as a licensed therapist but since they didn't accrue as much debt they don't charge as much. Usually half.

I say if you have mental health issues go in a corner, stick your thumb up your ass and rotate. Nobody gives a shit about your problems, suck it up and deal with it. Unless you WANT to give some smart ass classist bitch $250 an hour so she can get a return on her investment at UC Berkeley.

You probably don’t have an actual psychiatrist there. So, 250 times maybe 4 billable hours per day, 5 days per week times 50 weeks (leave). Ballpark 250k per year. I bet you can afford that.

Hell i bet you can afford a dozen psychologists.

But i bet there’s better places to spend that money. Something with a more predictable return?

I don't have money. I'm a homeless drug addict.
