And to do that, they need the Supreme Court to be who makes the decision.

When anyone fights to have the federal government, or the Supreme Court, decide on whether or not abortion is legal, instead of the individual states deciding - They aren't fighting to keep abortion legal. In the same time span, there has been an average of 1 million SURGICAL murders by abortion per year, NOT counting "morning-after" drugs or any other type of pregnancy termination.
