I don't know about this jewy article but I believe fecal transplants can provide relief for a variety of ailments. We do not understand a lot about the human body and the relationship with necessary biotics within. I think the gut is particularly important for regulation and that the biome is easily damaged or mal-aligned via diet, environmental factors, antibiotics etc. The digestive tract is a one way street so if you wanted to repopulate it, you have to go in orally. I would never want to do this but I can see how it could be beneficial for some.
It turns out they make special capsules designed to survive the stomach, and they only dissolve and release their contents after moving on. And yes, if something goes wrong with your microbiome in the colon, a fecal transplant can restore health.
Yes exactly. Not sure what's actually available but I think you can introduce "good germs" at various points in the tract too. I also tend to believe that in addition to the obvious digestive-type disorders, microbiome imbalance could also be a factor or at least related to mood disorders and regulatory disfunction. I've heard the phase "biological dark matter" to describe these things that are a part of us but yet distinct, and it's interesting that we can't function without them. Makes sense then if types/ quantities etc. are off then we'll see dysfunction somewhere.
