Hello again everybody. Earlier this week this drummer guy I know called me up and asked if he could come visit, and I told him sure. Then I called my buddy Chris and told him that drummer was coming over and he came over too. And we went out back into the studio and plugged in

I sent the kids home on a plane. Ha! I flew 'em commercial - but I did send 'em business class 'cause I had more than enough points to make their flights extremely cheap.

The missus and I will be on an adventure. I bought a 1981 Conversion Van - based on the Ford E350 (Econoline). It even has 4WD and a lift kit. I've been looking for one of these for a while and have considered making one for a while. I don't care about the conversion bit and may restore it partially to put in more seating.

Imagine all the drunken adventures I can have with a bunch of friends while driving through the woods and over the various mountains, across trails of various difficulties.

I'm kind of in a rush to get back home, so we're taking off tomorrow - early enough to avoid traffic. (Even the AC works and it has been updated regularly to include new electronics and shit like that.)

How close are you to Interstate 80? We'll be ripping up the highway and taking 80 all the way across. As Biff has never done this, I'll stop at some tourist traps along the way. However, I want to be home in a few days at the latest. I really need to be home by Monday - which gives us plenty of time.

If you're close to I-80, I might be able to swing in for a few hours. I didn't bring a guitar with me, so I picked up a cheap acoustic Ibanez to practice with.

All my familial obligations are complete as of now. I do need to be home by Monday, so that's a thing. I can do the whole trip by myself in under 48 hours but that means not sleeping. Just set the cruise control to 10 over (until you get to Ohio) and stop for gas when you need to.

This thing has dual gas tanks. I guess my range is about 650 miles - or more depending on how efficient I can be. It's got a giant 350 in it, but it's an 80s 350 so it's pretty nutless and not even all that efficient.

They don't call it the Malaise Era for nothing!

Anyhow, that's an update from me and mine.

How is it at your end of the world? You holding up okay? Things fairly normal for you?

Also, which chick are you screwing now... I'm under the impression that it's the same chick that has left you 50 times - 20 of those times she was 'gone for good'...

I am about 300 miles north of I 80, that's a good five or six hour drive I would imagine, but it would be fucking awesome if you could swing in for a little while on your way home, you could go north from here and cut through canada at sioux st marie bridge and cut a lot of the miles off your trip from here instead og going around the great lakes

I've actually been through part of that route before, except I entered the US further to the west. I basically followed US Rt. 2 the whole way - except for the giant half that was in Canada. It was a pretty epic journey.

I didn't even have a reason. I was retired and it seemed like a good idea. It turned out to be an excellent idea!

However, I don't think we can do that as easily anymore. You either need a special ID (license) or a passport to enter Canada now. They started that change shortly after 9/11 but it took many years for it to change completely.

Neither of us has our passport with us.

I don't think this will work: "Nah, trust me bro. We've got passports, but they're not on us."

I don't get asked for my passport. I have a mark on my license and a Canadian ID. I am a Canadian citizen. They can not deny me entry, regardless of documentation.

It would take a while, but I could cross into Canada without any ID at all - probably. They'd just run my prints though the machine and wait for ID verification and then they'd let me in.

Biff is not a Canadian citizen. So, she needs a passport.

You need a 'side chick'. That way you've got someone to play with when that chick leaves you over and over again. Shit, you should not only have a side chick, you should make her aware of it. "Yeah, I don't mind if you leave. I'll be getting a blowjob within the hour."

Huh... I had Verle at a younger age but just looking older 'cause he doesn't take care of himself.

I remember when you had your harem. You probably should do that again, only you should 'retire' and make them support you. It's the only logical thing to do at this point.

I need to hit the sack soon. We want to get up early to avoid the traffic. It's either that or we don't leave until mid-morning which has less traffic. But, avoiding traffic is something I kinda pride myself in. I'm pretty much an expert when it comes to traffic - including how to move through it as rapidly as reasonable and prudent.

Yup. I modeled traffic. I may understand it better than anyone else on the planet - though a lot will have been learned since I left and they're now using smart systems which were still in testing when I retired.

I'm not sure when we are stopping for a hotel. I'm a passenger right now. We're making good time.

There’s an old acoustic in the closet, it was the wife’s grandmother’s. I tuned it, but I can’t really play anything. I had a SG bass when I was a kid. Never did much with it. I imagine if I did anything, I would pick up a Rickenbacker and that special peddle and play like Lemmy.

It is in my blood to some degree. My father was a drummer, played with Frank Zappa, prior to him recording anything that got released.
My dad also knew The Carpenters and he also did this gig, right out of high school, they opened for The Beach Boys, way back when they were new. I think it was in a high school auditorium.

My dad was a musician too, and his dad as well. I will never forget when my grampa got old he got an electric accordion and plugged it in to a Marshall half stack and cranked it up loud as hell so he could hear it. Drove my grandma nuts! LoL
