Ages ago. He decided I was a 'pedo apologist' for pointing out that they censored links to Upgoat.

He took all of my points away pretty much negating my ability to function there. So, we just moved here.

It's not the first time we've moved. It probably won't be the last time we've moved. We've been at it since the old Voat days, even sometimes hosting the thread elsewhere due to outages. So, we're used to it at this point.

As for Poal, I haven't been back. I understand it's a ghosttown. I don't have any hate for 'em, just disappointment. It's not my fault he's retarded. I can do nothing about that.

I brought home a mint condition upright piano for my two teenager daughters today.

They showed an interest and now i fed it and see what grows.

Formal lessons are seldom a bad idea. You can start at very young ages, and I'd say the sooner the better.

If you can convince two teenage daughters to diligently practice and learn the instrument, I'd be even more impressed.

Yeah, it might be hard to find an instructor. Do you have a local church? If so, they often have a pianist or organist. Both of whom are qualified to teach.

There are some problems with self-instruction - such as there's nobody to tell you when you're doing it wrong. It is easier to learn good habits than it is to unlearn bad habits.

It's not easy, but it is rewarding.

Of course, you could learn five basic chords, get good enough at moving between them, and actually cover quite a large number of songs in a believable manner.

You can do that.

Learn E A D G C...

Then, learn Em, Am C#.

THen, learn to hammer on and hammer off with the basic chord shapes.

Learn an F# and B min to mix in some more chords.

With just that, you can bluff your way through a lot of songs but, more importantly, you can actually play a lot of songs.

You really only need the chords mentioned in the first line to learn a bunch of songs and to play well enough to impress chicks. With just those chords you can cover like the entire Eagles catalog. You can also play a zillion other songs, including a ton of country songs and classic rock songs.
