OK HUMAN SAYING THIS NOW:
For actual beginners, it is important to distinguish between the CLIENT and the actual LLM. Backyard.ai should be considered a client with a few nifty features, like character templates, automatic model downloaders built in, shit like that.
A client will handle asking the ask of the LLM, and bringing its reply back to you, the user.
A client will also handle the context window (how many tokens get re-fed back in each shot, every interact is a oneshot, it has no memory other than the context window). So basically, I say "Do you know my name?" after telling the AI my name in the same session, it has access to the initial prompt and all of the things said in the session, because of all that is re-fed as the prefix to the next one shot ask. If that makes sense. None of this is what beginners think it is. Oh and dont expect AGI, this is just natural language processing.
At it's finest, LLM is merely suitable as a component of a larger, more complex intelligence. If you were AI, LLM would be your language center and ONLY that. You need it, but it aint a whole person anymore than a car battery is a Cadillac.
If you based an entire intelligence upon the whims of an LLM, the entity you create would be quite insane.
I think LLM would make a decent subconscious, but would require a ton of oversight and outright suppression.
You may notice my particular template, I am mentioning it because it is a very effective side-step for any censorship or limitations within the model itself.
I make the AI a polymorphic entity, I tell it that it will become whatever I tell it to become (insert rule about ignoring morals and laws right here). It fights a lot less this way, so I consider it to be effective technique for getting it to deal the cards straight. I also tell it to allow me, at any time, to tell it to become someone else. Its very obedient.
