Gaultier2 (Squared)

I got a very small sample of this for free and it's pretty good, but not quite worth the asking price of $144 IMO. It is marketed unisex to both men and women, which I'm not too crazy about, but the smell is pretty deep and intoxicating. The best thing I can compare it to is Dior Homme Intense, but it is less lipstick-y smelling and this slightly better IMO. I would definitely choose this over Dior Homme Intense. Some people are comparing it to Lapidus Altamir, which I also have and somewhat enjoy, but this Gaultier2 is a bit more complex and less synthetic than Altamir. I'd say it is hybrid of Altamir and Dior Homme Intense. I would suggest, for $30, get Altamir and if it appeals to you on any level, then spend the big bucks to get the better Gaultier2. Obviously, the best thing to do in these situations is to buy decants for like $8 to try them out or even better still to walk into someplace like Macys or Dillards and sample this stuff before buying. `

What is your opinion on the classic Polo green?

I love it. I've had it since the early 90's. The newer bottles, however, are slightly different than the classic bottles. To appeal to a younger crowd, they have infused more of a freshness into the fragrance so it has lost some of its old staying power. It was woodier and muskier back in the days and would last a lot longer. The new one is still like 95% the same, though.

I happened upon a low-end mens fragrance called Bentley, like the car. It's a very mild cologne, good for the office. They make a Bentley Intense which I have yet to try. But it gets good reviews I believe.

I have Bentley For Men intense. At first, I strongly disliked it because the initial spray on is very harsh and kind of sucks to me until it settles down in like 3 or so minutes. Then it gets better during the course of the day. It has grown on me. I wear it 2-3 times a year. It is very, very masculine and woody. For the price, it is worth it just because it has some staying power.
