Seems more like a call for total domination in the field of AI.
He insists that open source is the best way forward for AI. This simply means that he wants all of his competition to give up their secrets for "further scrutiny", but nowhere does he suggest that Meta will absolutely not utilize open source advancement for proprietary purposes. Meta will have a proprietary, back of house, system while they utilize all the advancements made by competitors complying with open source initiatives.
Yes it was really kind of hard to believe and even hard to watch because he was so different than he has been a. And you know the guy never does anything for good so what he's trying to do is to get everybody ready and put their information in his AI so he knows what everybody's doing and he'll harvest that information rather than you know them giving it to Microsoft or Google or open ai.
Remember it was years of using Google before Google revealed that they had actually saved every one of our searches. They never told us they were saving our searches. We thought we were putting searches into their little box and those searches disappeared the minute we closed our our web browser. But Google was secretly saving them all attributing them to us and keeping a record of everything we were looking for. And I think that's going to be what happens with all these ai's. Every single AI prompt you put in is getting saved and they're using that information to deduce what your company is doing what you're working on what good ideas you have what problems you have everything.
Suddenly? It's not new. They released llama 2 last year. I believe they are the ones who leaked the original mode. I don't think it's out of the goodness of their hearts. TPTB want us to have access to these tools. But why? 🤔
The new model looks good though, 128k context hell yes.

I doubt they leaked it on purpose but it did end up benefiting them as the turbo nerds in the open-source world optimized the shit out of it.
