I honestly wish Japan wouldn't venerate Samurai as much anyway. Even if he somehow did become a Samurai so fucking what. Samurai were under educated morons who killed pesents for entertainment. They didn't have honor. They had an honor system imposed on them by the Shogunate because they knew if these brainless thugs acted the way they really wanted to act toward each other it would throw the various Shogunates into war.

Samuri did not commit Sepuku because they had so much honor that they would prefer suicide over being dishonorable. They committed Sepuku because its cheaper for the Shogunate to lose one of their asshole Samurai than it is to keep him around with his social baggage. And also because if he didn't the Shogunate would also kill his family. It's pretty smart of the Shogunate to value peace infinitely more than some worthless merc, but where in this picture does this make Samurai some gold standard. That some brutal honor system was imposed on you because otherwise you would be out of control does not make you honorable.

Toward the end the Samurai were just glorified policemen. And like many policemen they were just armed thugs that the government didn't mind because they worked for them. That a nigger would become one of these thugs is not a real shock.
