Takamines are very nice guitars

they are jap made, and if there is one thing japs learned to do better than the west its carpentry, they still have structures standing, one from 558 is 1445 years old.

I used to have a cheap Jasmine by Takamine, it was like $79, and I sold it for $200 to a guy. It was real nice for a $79 guitar. I have played the top of the line Takamine's at the music shop and those are very, very nice

Once i played a $3k takemine and it was divine

I ended up buying a $1200 takemine years ago and never looked back, i think its worth $2000+ now

Nice. I don't think I will ever pay that much for a guitar.

After trying many electrics for years i just settled on a nice American strat for $1.6k and never looked back, i just wish i knew i liked strats earlier, i modded it with a 10 way switch and put a hot rail in the bridge but damn i love that guitar.

Its really cool for finger picking stuff, it has a much fuller sound on the bridge+neck pickups

Its pretty. My buddy bought a MIM Martin and it is not very good quality.

I have never owned a Martin. I would expect top quality if I purchased one though. Sucks for your friend

I have a few old ones that are top quality. Nothing has a sound like that. and they play really good. This said, I'm an Ovation man, myself. Yes, I'm one of those kek

I recenlty purchased a Cordoba MII nylon. damn thin gsounds amazing. I only give like 300 bux or less for it

I used to have a neighbor with one of those roundback ovations. I thought it played really nice and sounded great. Nice and loud!

Ovations are stringed salad bowls. Guitars are made of wood.

Some of the lowest action and best sounding guitars on Erf. You can get the small backs instead of the big bowl.

I'm not so much of a stickler

[ - ] HonkyMcNiggerSpic 1 point 2 weeksApr 15, 2024 00:11:26 ago (+1/-0)

They make a big bowl, which I hate, they make a mid bowl which I love and they make the flatback which I love.

[ - ] Sleazy [op] 0 points 2 weeksApr 15, 2024 00:17:07 ago (+0/-0)

Are they still making those? I have not seen one of them in years

[ - ] HonkyMcNiggerSpic 1 point 2 weeksApr 15, 2024 00:26:24 ago (+1/-0)

They didn't make very many flat backs but some do exist from the old days. I have one. They just started making flatbacks again and they are actually affordable. They are the Jump series. https://www.guitarworld.com/news/applause-by-ovation-jump-series

I stopped off at a guitar store a few months ago and they had a mid bowl Ovation and I played it and the action was lower than most electrics and it played fast and had a beautiful sound. They only wanted like $549 or something for it brand R new. I've turned a lot of people onto Ovation. I should get a free guitar or a t-shirt or something lol

Here's an explanation of the bowl sizes: https://www.playmusic123.com/blogs/instrument-guides/finding-your-perfect-ovation-guitar-exploring-bowl-sizes-and-materials
