Meshtastic test

I just did my first test run of meshtastic and was able to transmit and receive at 12.6 miles with obstructions.

I'm just ordered my first Meshtastic kit, my coworker is also picking one up. I went with the over priced Spec5.

Might have mentioned this previously however the Russians are using a modified version of meshtastic to transmit target and enemy positions at the front line.

Lilly go t-deck actually seems to be better on battery than the heltech v3 and it has a built in keyboard.

Yes i noticed that thx. Would be interesting to see the reception range of the wrist band. Live in a sparse rural area and they use lora to read all the water meters here.

They all have the same esp-32. It's the antenna that matters when it comes to your range.
With my v3 my range went to the end of my road with the stock antenna, to two towns over about 12 miles through trees homes hills and water.

This reminds me; I wanted to try setting up a network between the house and the boat with something like this, but I ran into weird issues installing the boat raspberry pi and kind of ran out of gumption on that project. Now I kinda want to pick it up again, and maybe throw some different hardware at it.

If I could make it work, maybe. It's kind of a cool idea, maybe I should give it another go. Pretty sure there's some shit between the two locations; some trees, various structures. I keep wishing we'd at least looked at the place up the hill that was going for the same price when we bought this dump - but oh well.

I kinda figured one antenna would have to go on the masthead... and then I'd need to get a mast for the house, maybe. I'd put flag halyards on it, in case one of those city inspector faggots came around, and I could call it a flagpole instead of an antenna mast, since those are taxed differently of course.
