Ha! - I actually stumbled across that show on YouTube not too long ago. There is a series 2 as well, concluding at the Restoration.

Somewhat stagey, but interesting. I liked it. Apparently it was the most expensive BBC drama produced at the time, and was a huge hit in its day.
