We all spent the 90s the same way I think.
Dreaming about being British in the 80s.

Thanks! It'll be interesting to see how much the series deviates from the books...

I'm surprised so many on here know of this series.I was watching this shit in the mid 80's.
Do you know "The Young Ones" too?

Neil: Hello Vyvyan and that's a complete bastard I know called Rick.
Rick: He's just joshing, Mrs. Vyvyan, we're actually just terrific friends.
Mum: Ohh he is a bastard isn't he.

What about Blackadder, Greatest American Hero, and The Goodies?

YES! I've never met anyone IRL that's heard of "The Young Ones" or "Red Dwarf"!

I watched 'The Greatest American Hero' on our Console TV in the 80's. I've heard of "Black Adder", never watched it, not seen "The Goodies", I'll have to look that up. We should do a Red Dwarf/The Young Ones movie night!

YES! I've never met anyone IRL that's heard of "The Young Ones" or "Red Dwarf"!

When I was in my 20s, a work colleague a little older than me got me into them.

What about other PomCom's like, Richie and Eddie/Bottom, Fawlty Towers, A bit of Frye and Laurie, Spaced, IT Crowd, Extras, The Inbetweeners, The Mighty Boosh, An Idiot Abroad, Benidorm, The Brittas Empire (with smeg head), Hale and Pace (w/ Gaz Hale and Norm Pace, prob more Tyke/Skip comedy), Plebs (more recent), and my top three personal favourites;

#1 Garth Marenghis Darkplace (piss take of Steven King book movie adaptation in the 90s)
#2 Toast of London (greatest comedy of all time)
#3 Snuff Box (2nd greatest comedy of all time)

We should do a Red Dwarf/The Young Ones movie night!

👍

Let's see I've heard of Fawlty Towers, Frye and Laurie, & Spaced. No Idea about the others, as I got older the demands of life kept me hoping, & I had very little time for entertainment. I agree about the Young Ones & Red Dwarf movie night. I wish those two series were more readily available...

Yes, at least a couple times through. It's retarded. I really like it and think you should watch it.

This is nearly 8 hours later, so I hope you are well into the show.

I had some running around to do, and just got back.
I actually know about the show because I was watching it back in the 80's. I had some friends that were REALLY deep into British humor, and they turned me on to Red Dwarf & The Young Ones. It took a little getting used to at first, but after a little while, and copious amounts of Alcohol, It was pure comedy entertainment. We were regulars, & we were hooked!

Actually really liked original Ace. Rimmer thought he had all the breaks and that's why he was so courageous and successful. Then find out he got the bad luck, got kept back in school, but that made him stronger.
And the graveyard of Ace, 10000s of them buried in space, as every Ace ends up dying heroically.

Theme songs a banger too.

First season isn't that great, but it gets better after they wipe out the crew. The revival seasons are mostly good, but gets way too meta. Visiting their own actors and creator.

One of the best scenes is rimmer interacting with death and when they drink the luck potion.

They kept going after s08 (the meta) with some that are even a bit poignant. Like 12 seasons now.
