There are a few songs about Friday, of which I've covered at least two. Why is Friday special? That's when we have the Friday Night Guitar Thread. It's right there in the name! So, come do what we always do on Fridays and rock out with your peers.

Hello again, this week I got some new song I made up about a hole in my pocket. I was taking a walk with my woman the other day and I saw a lighter laying on the ground on the way back home. I picked it up and light it, it lights, I look at it, fuck that's my lighter.

It's quite a feat finding your lighter like that! It's got some pretty clean runs and they're in the right key.

I been practicing singing and playing at the same time, cause that is very difficult for me sometimes, some songs are easy and some songs are hard, anyways I recorded myself sitting at the table with the acoustic guitar and singing as I play coca

I've long said that participating regularly will improve your ability to play.

The sense of obligation goes a long ways because it means you play and with playing you practice and that practice makes you improve.

So, it's a good idea to participate.

Speaking of which, I found some young lady on YouTube who is learning to play the guitar. I'm worried about her attracting the wrong sort of attention but that's not up to me.

Indeed. This weekly thread has definitely improved your playing. It has improved Biff's playing inasmuch as anyone else's, I suppose. Though, she feels less of an obligation these days and is pretty happy with her skill level. She still practices diligently, with very few days being skipped for various reasons.

It's not like she has a lot of pressing tasks that need to be done. So, she's able to do anything she wishes with her life and does fairly well with that freedom. It's a freedom very few people experience at her age, if at all. She can, quite literally, do anything she wants.

And, yeah... I think she's like 14 to 16. I haven't asked for specifics as I don't want to be a creeper. I don't know as I'd call her 'pretty' so much as I'd call her a young lady who may turn out to be a cute chick.

Ah well... It's not my job to worry about her. Still, I figure she's going to get attention for all the wrong reasons.

I was going to mention that it is so fucking awesome that Biff is still playing and that she plays as awesomely as she does. I am sure having you to play along with helps to make it more fun, when you get it going together its magical.

She still comes to me for help and suggestions. On her own, she's really quite good. She could easily play professionally. She doesn't have the experience to be a studio musician, but she could do covers and has the chops to write her own material for a band.

She's had a pretty solid base of instruction and has learned good habits from the start. That isn't to inflate my ego, but to point out how important it really can be.

She absolutely could. She knows how to take a riff and turn it into a song, and stuff like that. It's not just the fundamentals, it's the extras that go along with it. She's got that experience.

Damn if you played and sang that together you really did a good job. That's some licks thrown in with vocals simultaneously. That's really hard to do. I'm always amazed at some guitar guys that do that. Wish I could think of an example but I can't. Maybe Frampton Do You Feel Like I Do. Or something for that monster album.

Thank you. It is not easy and it took a lot of practice to be able to do that song like that. I just got to trust my fingers to know what to do and focus on the words.

And it really helps me to sing and play if I watch the fingers on my left hand, which does not make for the most riveting or entertaining of performance for the audience so when I am practicing singing along with playing I been trying not to look at my hand unless there is a position change on the neck so I can sing to a mic in front of me

Well if that's what you gotta do to make it work fuck the critics. I know it's hard as hell to play and sing along with riffs. Beat's just banging out chords and singing along with them but it's not easy being sleazy.

I think my songs would sound so much better with a truly great singer but where do you find one of those willing to say the lyrics I write? Its not easy being Sleazy LoL

Well hello there! Welcome to another Friday Night Guitar Thread. I have nothing new to share because I have been busy with other things.

Instead, this will be the very first track shared on Talk.lol...

As you know, we started with Voat, moved to Poal, ended up effectively getting a banhammer for false accusations, ended up on Talk.lol, and that's now UpGoat.

Yeah, we've been around the block, but the thread still exists. It has existed for quite a few years now, far longer than any other regular thread on any of those sites. So, let's remember when we came to Talk.lol with this:

That was the first song we shared here and it was excellent. The reception was not quite excellent, but we didn't care. We're still here every week, rain or shine.
