I was on the East German border 30 years after the war ended, in a 4.2 inch mortar (on M113) platoon in a combat support company. Their military wasn't much to speak of then, and still isn't.

The M106 carrier is the M113 armored personnel carrier modified to carry the M30 4.2-inch (107mm) mortar on a specially designed turntable mount.
