The article at least explains that it doesn’t break plastic down further. It causes it to form some kind of capsule around itself, which renders it harmless. But you’re right distilling is still much better.
Those are not charcoal activated filters. Reverse osmosis can use I think, but the plastic on the hull of filters is harmless as the water is filtered and sent to the tap after that.
Very misleading. It repeatedly claimed boiling can remove them, then describes how it causes them to form a casing around itself, “rendering them harmless”… Then proceeds to claim again that it therefor “removes them”.

I've always used kettle water. Boil it and leave it in the kettle for the remainder of the day.
