Once again, it's time for the FNGT!

If you don't know how this works, click this link. That link will take you to another site to give you some additional information and tell you about some of our off-site features. That's also the site where we will host the weekly guitar threads, should Talk.lol go down.

NOTE: That site is by invitation only. If you want an invite, ask a regular participant (such as @TheRealBuddha or myself)

If you already know what's going on, you probably don't need to click any of those links. You can still visit to see if any changes have been made, as that's also where we kept the archives and have a second forum.

By the way, we're down to just two of us. If you want to help, let us know.

I think this has only been shared once...

------------------------------

The title of this next track may throw you. It's known as The Angel of Death. It's a musical tale that tells of man's fear of his impending demise, after a life full of vim and vigor, and him battling the Angel of Death. I'm pretty sure it was Albeniz, but either way, it ends with the man accepting his fate after a healthy battle with the death angel. He puts up a pretty good fight, but loses in the end, as we all do.

It's a time-honored story, written by many - such as Hemmingway. This, however, is authored in music and I want to say it was always a song meant for the guitar, but don't quote me on that.

Either way, here it is:

Enjoy! I'm on vacation!

Very nice! I hope you enjoy your vacation. I saw a video today and thought of you, no homo (even though the song is kinda gay). It was because the dude was not perfect in his playing and I thought you'd be able to do this much better and maybe just by watching this video, you'd be able to perfectly hit the notes he was going for. Sometimes I think he was a halftone away from his goals.

Without great familiarity with the original piece, it looks like it's a pretty sloppy player.

It's January. I take the entire month off. I may get some time to play with it, assuming I can find the original. I might even be able to find the tab for it, though these days a lot of tab found online is just a rough approximation.

I make no promises and may even completely forget about this.

Was busy yesterday with sleep and phone calls and shit. My entire schedule has gotten off track because I'm not working, just healing up from this surgery still. The shoulder can tolerate some guitar playing, but it's not easy. Finally getting around to listening to you guys now after doing some jamming and posting a couple of discussion threads.

@Sleazy Regarding your comment on the solid state thread: Never, ever, heard something you liked from a Peavey? That's a bit harsh, but I think I know what you mean. Or, at least, can understand why you feel that way. Also, most people wouldn't be proud to show off a peavey amp on stage. That's me included, depending on where, but at the apartment or jamming with a buddy I have heard awesome stuff.

[ - ] Sleazy [op] 1 point 3 monthsJan 13, 2024 21:49:44 ago (+1/-0)

I do have a little solid state Marshall practice Amp that I bolted to another cheap practice Amp cab and hooked the speaker to the Marshall, and I love the way that sounds.

As for the Peavy, they always sounded shrill to me when friends had them. I'm not picky about gear at all for the most part, but I just see Peavy and my brain automatically thinks trash lol

That's what I was afraid of when I noticed the typo

Thanks!

I have a 7 string Jay Turser with a DigiTech RP-300A multi-fx pedal.

Am I gonna make it, guitar guys?

We don't care if you have a clapped out acoustic that you can't tune and only know three chords.

Join us!

We're pretty much a cult!

[ - ] Sleazy [op] 1 point 3 monthsJan 12, 2024 20:15:31 ago (+1/-0)

Let's hear it!

Then we'll know

[ - ] Scyber 3 points 3 monthsJan 12, 2024 20:31:32 ago (+3/-0)

I haven't played it in over 6 months. I'm a horrible player.
Out of all the instruments I've played throughout my life, guitar is the hardest for me because I can't grasp chords. I've been playing off and on since I was 12 and still don't really understand it.

[ - ] Sleazy [op] 1 point 3 monthsJan 12, 2024 20:34:09 ago (+1/-0)

You don't need to understand it, you just need to make it sing!

[ - ] Sleazy [op] 2 points 3 monthsJan 12, 2024 20:02:28 ago (+2/-0)

Hello everyone. Earlier this week my buddy Chris came over and we jammed out a few tunes before going to visit our other buddy Verle. Here we played an acoustic version of Straight Outta Compton

[ - ] TheRealBuddha 4 points 3 monthsJan 12, 2024 20:15:00 ago (+4/-0)

Well, at least you don't have to work until Monday.

I watched quite a bit of today's auction and didn't buy a damned thing. I didn't buy anything - not one car.

So much of it was American Muscle and I have examples of many of those. The rest is so similar that I don't need to buy them. They replicate the same driving experience. I don't need more of that.

We've got a major storm rolling in tonight. We'll see how it goes. We're expecting 50+ MPH winds. The coast is going to get fucked a second time. My area and central Maine was what got fucked in the big storm. These storms, including what we're expecting, don't have as much energy and are following a slightly different track due to the high pressure system off the coast.

That pressure system is gonna fuck 'em pretty hard. We're talking millions of dollars worth of damage - again. They just got nailed on Tuesday. Plenty of history will be lost due to the storm. It's not just rich coastal people who are going to get nailed. It's the locals and the historic structures that will also get nailed.

My favorite lighthouse took some damage on Tuesday. We'll see how it fares after this storm.

Hopefully, I won't lose my 'net connection. Satellite won't be up and running again until maybe next week. That depends on the weather. It requires a new dish.

Unfortunately, the Starlink satellites that'd cover me haven't yet been launched. They go up in February, I think. So, I'll likely switch over in the spring.

[ - ] Sleazy [op] 1 point 3 monthsJan 12, 2024 20:29:54 ago (+1/-0)

We've got 25 mph winds now and it's been snowing heavily since around 6 AM. All the taverns in town have announced they were closing at 5 PM this afternoon. I haven't seen a car go down the street besides the plow trucks and my son in two or three hours.

[ - ] TheRealBuddha 2 points 3 monthsJan 12, 2024 21:19:44 ago (+2/-0)

We're gonna get 50+ MPH winds, which is nice. It'll be heavier on the coast.

By the time your storm hits here, it won't be as strong and it's coming in from a different angle. Our storms that have fucked us lately (and this is the third), they came in from the south. They then hit a high pressure system that's off the coast, stall, and fuck us. They didn't stall last time, not for long, but we still took millions of dollars worth of damage.

So, within a month, we'll have had millions and millions of dollars worth of damage.

This storm won't be as bad as the December storm. Just in case, I have articles written ahead of time. I won't need to write a new article until the 17th. Well, I'd write it on the 16th. I have two articles ready for publication ahead of time.

That means I'll give less shits if the internet goes out.

On the other hand, tomorrow is my big auction day. I'm also interested in some of what crosses the block on Sunday. I didn't buy anything today. I haven't bought much this time around. Most of what I've purchased is for sale. So, I'm amazingly within budget.

In fact, I have enough of a budget left over for next year. I generally only do one auction per year and I do the big one. I've not spent much money this time around.

[ - ] Sleazy [op] 1 point 3 monthsJan 12, 2024 21:42:10 ago (+1/-0)

The weatherman is predicting 50 mph winds for us here too overnight and tomorrow. The snow is supposed to continue until around 6 Pm tomorrow evening.

Hopefully the drifts are not so bad we can't get out of the house.

And hopefully your internet is fully functional for the auction tomorrow

[ - ] TheRealBuddha 2 points 3 monthsJan 12, 2024 21:58:31 ago (+2/-0)

I hope I'll be just fine. I'm okay with losing power, so long as the cell connection stays up and running.

We're going to get about 12" of snow here - but it's going to drop quickly. They're estimating about 8 hours of storming in my area with 12" of snow as the total. So, it's a full-on blizzard.

The worst hit is going to be the coast. It won't have snow. It won't even start as snow. It'll drop a few inches of rain and then push the water inland due to the low pressure system. We're having our high tides at about the point where the storm peaks.

They're looking at 17' of tide and another 5' or so of storm surge.

That's 'fuck you' territory. That's Mother Nature laying down the smack down. Shit's gonna get fucked up.

Hell, we have a lighthouse that's been there since the 1700s and part of it was destroyed. That was in the last storm.

Hopefully, nobody dies this time around. It depends on the flooding and how people react to that.

[ - ] Sleazy [op] 1 point 3 monthsJan 12, 2024 22:13:31 ago (+1/-0)

I am sure glad I am not on the coast when that surge hits land

[ - ] TheRealBuddha 2 points 3 monthsJan 12, 2024 22:19:05 ago (+2/-0)

They're gonna get fucked.

They got fucked on Tuesday. It's going to happen again.

We will be less fucked inland, like my area. My area will possibly see nothing but snow (and very high winds).

[ - ] Sleazy [op] 1 point 3 monthsJan 12, 2024 22:29:23 ago (+1/-0)

Well, you are at an elevation that would take an apocalyptic type of storm surge to effect your home

[ - ] TheRealBuddha 2 points 3 monthsJan 12, 2024 22:47:23 ago (+2/-0)

If the storm surge reaches my house, we're all dead.

Hell, you're dead before it reaches my house.

[ - ] Leveraction 1 point 3 monthsJan 12, 2024 23:26:08 ago (+1/-0)

Its -24 below right now here, with wind chill at -40

[ - ] TheRealBuddha 1 point 3 monthsJan 13, 2024 17:09:27 ago (+1/-0)

Now that's chilly! At about -10° F is when I start thinking about going inside for the day.

[ - ] TheRealBuddha 3 points 3 monthsJan 12, 2024 20:25:15 ago (+3/-0)

Also, 'rick'... You mean 'rock'...

You gotta typo in your headline. It's okay, I'm sure there have been plenty over the years.

[ - ] Sleazy [op] 2 points 3 monthsJan 12, 2024 20:26:26 ago (+2/-0)

I know. I saw that just as soon as I submitted. Too late to fix it.

[ - ] TheRealBuddha 2 points 3 monthsJan 12, 2024 21:13:59 ago (+2/-0)

You have some time to fix it. I don't know how long that is, but there is time to fix it with the edit function.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. We've had errors in the headlines before, I'm sure of it. After all these years, we've certainly had some errors. It's bound to have happened.

Otherwise, you just broke the streak and we now have had an error in our headline!

I'm sure we've had errors before this. I'm sure of it...

[ - ] Sleazy [op] 1 point 3 monthsJan 12, 2024 21:15:35 ago (+1/-0)

I tried, I could fix the introduction but not the title.

[ - ] TheRealBuddha 2 points 3 monthsJan 12, 2024 21:39:31 ago (+2/-0)

You've got like five minutes, as memory serves. It's not long. If you don't get it quickly, it's gonna be there forever.

Meh...

You got the thread open AND you got it in the right sub!

So, it's not as bad as it could be!

[ - ] Sleazy [op] 1 point 3 monthsJan 12, 2024 21:42:35 ago (+1/-0)

It's not the first time I fucked up, and it won't be the last!

[ - ] TheRealBuddha 2 points 3 monthsJan 12, 2024 22:01:20 ago (+2/-0)

Damned right!

I make more errors by 06:00 than most people are gonna make all day!

[ - ] Hall_of_Cost 1 point 3 monthsJan 13, 2024 21:57:21 ago (+1/-0)

WILD TIMES

Sounds like fun, gonna check out Circles now.

[ - ] Sleazy [op] 1 point 3 monthsJan 12, 2024 21:44:34 ago (+1/-0)

I finally got the screen repaired on my good laptop and am using a decent computer again. When I got this laptop up and running I saw the icon for the fruity loops, and thought, I have not got to play with that for quite a while. So I played with it. I made circles, sounds like hold music to me LoL

[ - ] Hall_of_Cost 1 point 3 monthsJan 13, 2024 22:35:46 ago (+1/-0)

Sounds good, bro

[ - ] Sleazy [op] 1 point 3 monthsJan 12, 2024 20:33:24 ago (+1/-0)

Last weekend my buddy Verle got arrested and charged with rape. He was let out on Monday without any charges, while my other buddy Chris was over to my house. So we decided to go over to Verle's place and find out what the fuck happened, why he was in jail, and how he got out of jail with no charges after spending the weekend in there.

So, I present to you, without further ado, Verles confession

Bill Paxton...

Did he write it? All the comments say how it's Dylan.
Edit: It's Mike Bauer performing it. Bill Paxton was on The Titanic. Tom Paxton was folk singer.

Whos the guy who looks like bill paxton though?
