Heat wave? It rained relentlessly all day down here and it wasn't much better along the east coast at least.

Melbourne has had cool Christmases for some years now. When I was growing up our Christmases were hot, and heat waves not unheard of. Been many years since we've had a hot Christmas Day.

Yes, it was hot a couple of weeks ago. The weather maps were red to drive home the point that it was scary, you must be scared, and that such heat was unprecedented in our fair country... (scary red weather maps seem to be a thing now - the trend kicked off in the European summer and has caught on here!)

Sounds like a great climate to grow hot peppers, some of which are scary hot. Slightly drunk me ate 3 Carolina Reapers one time, and it was an unforgettable experience.
