This dying lake could be the site of California’s next ‘gold’ rush. Has greatest lithium deposit in the world?

I've been there. Nasty place, foul water and the ruins of tourist traps gone bust. But if all this lithium can be mined and extracted, it will change the world.

I have heard that mining lithium causes more pollution than almost any other mining. Highly doubt anything will happen as California can't even build a train.
In today's political climate, the US wouldn't be able to build the Erie canal.

It's kind of like how recycling is, if anything beyond trash, some peasant melting the precious metals out of your old PC parts. Lefties vaguely acknowledge the externalities of their actions, then the smug overrides, and a label is enough to convince them their role is justified.
