You could try misting one with some acetone. It would only take a second and if they used an acrylic based tape the acetone would start to dissolve it and turn it an opaque white rendering their propaganda unreadable and useless. Making and securing posters to a pole is more expensive then a couple squirts of acetone.

Yeah, I have been using a regular work knife. You have to understand: This is NYC. Even in Queens, in addition to car traffic, there are ana average of 6-8 people out on every single street any given time—particularly at 8:45 when this happened when they’re all going to work.
