Started buying the "Chuck Eye" steaks from walmart.

submitted by Not_a_redfugee to Food 1.5 yearsNov 17, 2023 19:38:18 ago (+10/-2)     (Food)

They're fucking great steaks, often with fat like a ribeye but they're smaller and cheaper. There's still some thick ones though. I prefer to pan fry them in my iron skillet, save the grill for actual ribeyes. The chuck eyes are tender too. 10/10 would buy again.

Walmart is selling cheap garbage provided by Tyson foods were they raise animals on antibiotics and steroids.

Except few states were they have limited amount of quality beef. McClaren Farms beef is only available in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, and South Carolina.

Yeah but walmart sells good steaks. Im poor because I spend most money on mortgage, bills, and food. Plus I only eat 1 meal a day (dinner) , most days. Walmart is just affordable. It's a terrible situation but those chuck eye steaks are good as fuck for the price.

McClaren Farms

Shall keep an eye out for it. Think I saw them at Publix.

What are you talking about? Wal-Mart has the best steaks money can buy! Haven't you seen this?

I'm usually a NY Strip sort of guy but good value is always helpful. Will keep an eye out if the one nearby has it.

Saw a video on yt where the guy smoked it and was injecting it with the marrow as he went. Thought it was genius.

Depending on weight, Low and slow for 45 minute at 200, pull at temp, then sear that fucker at 700. Butter, rosemar, garlic.

Best steak I ever cooked was a bone in tomahawk. Bought it for my dad for Father's day. I could eat it every day.

Snap into a slim jim!

Can't trust it. Enjoy your heavy metal vaccine residue.

I like to pick of eye of round steaks and tenderize them with my stabby thing.

Bold XL Meat Tenderizer Tool 60-Blades Stainless Steel

Then dry rub with garlic, mesquite and salt/pepper. Just firm enough to let me know it's meat but tender enough to enjoy chewing it.

I too found these to be very good, but I grill them outside. Excellent choice!

DON'T TRUST THOSE FUCKERS! If they can make an extra nickel by pumping that shit full of (insert shit here) they will.

[ - ] Spaceman84 0 points 1.5 yearsNov 17, 2023 22:17:48 ago (+0/-0)

Doesn't work with steaks. They don't cook right if they're wet. Chicken and pork though frequently have brine added.

Isn't the meat, it's the cow.

[ - ] rzr97 0 points 1.5 yearsNov 17, 2023 21:25:24 ago (+0/-0)

I've been telling people FOR YEARS that beef chuck eyes are the best steak in many ways. They taste fucking great, they are inexpensive and they pan fry the best with olive oil and butter. Add some salt and pepper and it's fucking perfect.

[ - ] Not_a_redfugee [op] 0 points 1.5 yearsNov 17, 2023 23:26:56 ago (+0/-0)

Funny, thats exactly what I did. I pretty much just discovered chuck eyes and cooked it like you said, with some Cavendar's seasoning of course.

[ - ] rzr97 0 points 1.5 yearsNov 18, 2023 00:01:29 ago (+0/-0)

Interesting! Thanks. Is this the seasoning? https://greekseasoning.com/ Do you use it in addition to salt and pepper or just replace it?

[ - ] Not_a_redfugee [op] 0 points 1.5 yearsNov 18, 2023 00:38:24 ago (+0/-0)

That is the best spice known to man. I put it on just about everything because it's good as fuck on anything. Sometiems I just dump some on my hand and press my tongue to it. Every time I make steaks, I use it and use a moist finger pick up and eat the extra that is on the pan when I'm setting out and seasoning the steaks. It's good shit.
I usually set the steaks out on a pan to get closer to room temp and season them using salt, pepper, Cavendars, thyme, and rosemary, and sometimes a little bit of liquid smoke (just a little), in that order. Let it set and marinate a couple hours, flipping once an hour, then ready to grill.
That's just what I do. I usually don't bother searing steaks or anything because I just put the Traeger or the pan on as hot as it will get, then, depending on how thick the steak is, I do 4 minutes on each side, or 4 on one side 5 on the other.

You're the man. Thanks.

Do you order it from that site or elsewhere?
