The first time I heard of Cliff was from this kid in elementary school who was on the periphery of my friend circle. I knew he didn't read the assigned book yet somehow he got a C+ on the report.
I asked him how he managed to pull that off and he told me he used Cliff's notes. As there was no Cliff in our grade -or even the entire school- I simply assumed he copied the homework of some cousin of his named Cliff that went to a different school.
It was roughly a month later, after six of the biggest dipshits turned in basically the same book report, that I discovered Cliff was actually just some old kike who made money by enabling affirmative action. Though the terms 'kike' and 'affirmative action' did not exist in my burgeoning lexicon back then. I was able to grasp the ramifications of such a thing.
The idea that an adult would make money off of keeping stupid kids stupid really rankled my naive and youthful sensibilities.
