I agree with your assessment but there is real AGI and google may have one. Very good odds he got to interact with it and was told it was a bot rather than AGI. His dumb ass was not engineering anything he was a beta tester.

That AI he is talking about could barely repeat the pre-programmed communist talking points, with a healthy dose of helpful journalistically soft-ball questions while cutting "extraneous" replies.
Which is almost as bad as your averagely programmed NPC.
