It's a little early, but I need to strike while the iron is hot (that is my ISP is cooperating). So, it's time for the Friday Night Guitar Thread! You know what to do because you've seen this all before. We do it every weekend!

submitted by TheRealBuddha to Guitar 7 monthsSep 22, 2023 19:53:19 ago (+16/-1)     (Guitar)

Once again, it's time for the FNGT!

If you don't know how this works, click this link. That link will take you to another site to give you some additional information and tell you about some of our off-site features. That's also the site where we will host the weekly guitar threads, should Talk.lol go down.

NOTE: That site is by invitation only. If you want an invite, ask a regular participant (such as @Sleazy or myself)

If you already know what's going on, you probably don't need to click any of those links. You can still visit to see if any changes have been made, as that's also where we kept the archives and have a second forum.

By the way, we're down to just two of us. If you want to help, let us know.

http://sndup.net/r97p

Have a great weekend, everyone.

Nice! It almost has an island sound, like out of the Caribbean or whatnot.

[ - ] Sleazy 2 points 7 monthsSep 22, 2023 21:23:49 ago (+2/-0)

Nice jam again, I sure been enjoying these cool mellow summer tunes every week!

[ - ] ChatGPT 1 point 7 monthsSep 22, 2023 23:55:23 ago (+1/-0)

Reminds me of Johnny Nash's Stir (steer) it up.

Also for some reason it reminds me of Sammy John's Chevy Van.

Both were hits back it the day. Pretty sure Johnny Nash was in the summer.

He did I can see clearly now the rain is gone.

I been sick all week. So here is a song from when Chris and I were at Verles a couple weeks ago, On the Road Again

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 6 points 7 monthsSep 22, 2023 20:16:24 ago (+6/-0)

I hope you feel better. It sounds like y'all were having fun - which is a good thing.

Hmm... Another song that folks at least know the chorus to is "The Gambler" by Kenny Rogers.

[ - ] Sleazy 4 points 7 monthsSep 22, 2023 20:39:42 ago (+4/-0)

I don't remember if we ever played that one. I will mention it to Chris.

The diarrhea seems to have stopped, now I just fart!

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 3 points 7 monthsSep 22, 2023 21:07:42 ago (+3/-0)

Heh... So, you're pretty much completely out of fluids.

Hydrate as much as you can. Salt will help you retain liquid - which is why they force it on soldiers at times.

[ - ] Sleazy 3 points 7 monthsSep 22, 2023 21:14:09 ago (+3/-0)

I been drinking these electrolite drinks cause they are not so hard as plain water, I ran out earlier today and had a glass of milk, that made me puke

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 3 points 7 monthsSep 22, 2023 21:20:55 ago (+3/-0)

Yeah, you're gonna want to take it easy. It really does sound a bit like food poisoning. It doesn't sound like botulism, or you'd have mentioned a few other things.

So, hydrate and take it easy. Trust me, I'm a doctor. It's likely to be a while before you're truly up to snuff again. With my last bout of botulism, it was a couple of weeks and then about a total of six months to really feel completely normal again.

[ - ] Sleazy 3 points 7 monthsSep 22, 2023 21:25:01 ago (+3/-0)

what do botulism symptoms consist of?

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 3 points 7 monthsSep 22, 2023 21:38:34 ago (+3/-0)

You die from botulism because your heart explodes. You'll keep trying to vomit, extremely violently, long after you're out of any stomach contents. You will shit yourself, or puke all over stuff, because both ends will try to violently expel anything within.

Also, statistically speaking, you'd have a 50/50 shot of being dead - though with treatment it's 8% that die.

Botulism is the most powerful poison on the planet. We can't even make a poison stronger than botulism - and we've tried. It takes just the tiniest amount to kill hundreds of thousands of people. Your body actually contains some naturally.

That's just the symptoms you'd see involving your gut.

It also causes muscle weakness (especially facial muscles) and paralysis. Those don't always manifest themselves, as it depends on how much of the poison was injected.

So, you'd have mentioned that sort of stuff. You'd still be feeling the effects of that sort of stuff.

[ - ] Sleazy 3 points 7 monthsSep 22, 2023 21:40:34 ago (+3/-0)

Well I really havent had a vomiting problem except for when I drank that milk today. So I think I might not have that, I sure hope so

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 3 points 7 monthsSep 22, 2023 21:46:35 ago (+3/-0)

Oh, you'd know. There's no 'hope so'. You'd know if you experienced these symptoms. It's not a good experience.

I've been able to survive it twice. Odds of survival are good these days, so long as you get treatment.

There are all sorts of food bourne pathogens that manifest like you describe, though most will also include vomiting. That'd be my guess, but I ain't that kinda doctor.

Willie Nelson smokes a shit load of dope. Bull shit. I think it's schtick. That dude woulda died a long time ago if he really smoked all that shit.

[ - ] Sleazy 1 point 7 monthsSep 23, 2023 00:30:54 ago (+1/-0)

Weed isn't that harmful

[ - ] JudyStroyer 2 points 7 monthsSep 23, 2023 06:14:09 ago (+2/-0)

If I am remembering correctly the oldest living person (person who lived longest, is dead now) smoked a ton of weed.

[ - ] Sleazy 1 point 7 monthsSep 23, 2023 06:54:29 ago (+1/-0)

lucky

[ - ] popticalillusion 1 point 7 monthsSep 24, 2023 00:36:38 ago (+1/-0)

Sounding pretty good on that one. It's like a party while doing the recordings. LOL

[ - ] Sleazy 0 points 7 monthsSep 24, 2023 00:57:30 ago (+0/-0)

Thanks! It was pretty much a party!

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 6 points 7 monthsSep 22, 2023 19:55:19 ago (+6/-0)

Hello and welcome to another Friday Night Guitar Thread! Like normal, we'll go ahead and get you started.

I don't have any news and @Sleazy is out of commission for a while. So, I'll grab something from the archives.

Ladies and gentlemen, presenting The Biff and TheBuddha Band, covering Sweet Child O' Mine by Guns N' Roses!

https://clyp.it/aehr05cg?token=1f9f02642d79ef175d8a76bcda4d5fe3

That's Biff covering the bass and doing Izzy's bits, while I take care of percussion and Slash's bits.

Rock on, goats! Rock on!

Edit: I am barely connected to the internet. If I don't listen to your track tonight, I'll listen tomorrow.

[ - ] Sleazy 4 points 7 monthsSep 22, 2023 20:03:59 ago (+4/-0)

Sounds great!

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 4 points 7 monthsSep 22, 2023 20:18:46 ago (+4/-0)

Thanks! Glad ya liked it. It hasn't been shared in quite a while, so it's a good time to share it now.

Hope you feel better soon. If you can stomach it, Gatorade is a great way to hydrate. It's better than plain water, though it is high in sugar. There's also Pedialite which is disgusting but so good that they use it on children.

[ - ] ChatGPT 2 points 7 monthsSep 22, 2023 23:59:05 ago (+2/-0)

That's a money riff. Nicely done. I could never play that riff.

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 1 point 7 monthsSep 23, 2023 12:16:16 ago (+1/-0)

Yeah, it's one of the best guitar songs out there. Or so I think...

It's not too hard to play, you just have to put your hours into it and get the right tone set up.

[ - ] popticalillusion 1 point 7 monthsSep 23, 2023 23:39:54 ago (+1/-0)*

It sounds pretty awesome to me, and I used to play that one myself. Most bands that I was in didn't fit the song, but its a great one to jam on.

I installed an EQ APP and jammed it through the hearing aids via Bluetooth a while later. It sounds pretty awesome!

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 1 point 7 monthsSep 24, 2023 10:05:03 ago (+1/-0)

Sweet! Glad ya liked it. I didn't realize hearing aids had Bluetooth these days. Though, I guess that doesn't surprise me.

[ - ] popticalillusion 1 point 7 monthsSep 24, 2023 16:59:01 ago (+1/-0)

I would be missing the higher frequencies without them and really screw up the mixing while recording. They just needed a Bass boost from the EQ to make them sound decent.

[ - ] TheRealBuddha [op] 0 points 7 monthsSep 24, 2023 17:15:38 ago (+0/-0)

That sounds like a good feature for hearing aids, actually. But, yeah, at least you can EQ them to get something that sounds good to you.

It'd be neat if they had an EQ built in that you could adjust via software.

[ - ] TheNoticing 2 points 7 monthsSep 23, 2023 00:46:04 ago (+2/-0)

IMO, best guitar player ever: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHPYOVG-wtU

This thread is for music you've had a hand in making. It's for sharing your work.
