Every ghost story online that I have investigated has been a hoax.

Every.
Single.
Time.

You have rats.

Sure they are .. in Queensland part way along the Mundubbera / Durong Road a few clicks south of the town, there was an old abandoned Community Hall with a rainwater tank at back .. thus one day I stopped to get water and when I opened the gate into the overgrown yard the door of the hall which had been partly ajar slammed shut .. made me think the shade of some long forgotten deb was at hand.

At about age 9 yrs in Adelaide SA the door to an abandoned inner city building which had been locked tight every time I had been by was slightly open, it looked like it had been pulled closed but the catch had not taken properly, I gave it a shove and it swung open, inside were bare floorboards and an empty receptionist's cubicle with no telephone..

A broad set of stairs went upwards to a bare corridor with about three doors, as I got to the top of the stairs the door nearest the steps opened and a man dressed in old fashioned circa 1959 office clothing stepped out, he looked me up and down then went back in leaving the door open, I stuck my head in the room was entirely bare and empty, I decamped.

There have been quite a few others, after working in Australia's Northern Territory upon returning to Brisbane I needed to find a flat and moved into a tenement in the suburb of New Farm, the day I moved in there was a figure standing in the corner looking at me when I returned it's gaze it vanished, shortly after when I was asleep I felt someone sit on the end of my bed, I delivered a mighty kick and felt good contact that spirit never bothered me again.

Up the pub I ran into an Englishman I had known at work and in the pub for quite a long time, he was betting on the TAB and I said "are you backing a winner," he abused me .. saw him a few days later in the workplace and said "are you backing a winner you pommie ----."

Maybe a couple weeks after that in the pub I had to take a leak, he was in the toilet and greeted me in a friendly manner I wasn't unkind to him .. he was still there when I left, he never came out and when another bloke went in and came out I asked if there was anyone in there, he said there was no one .. some time later I heard he had committed suicide weeks before.

Aside from weird physicality, another thing to consider is hypnagogia and hypnopompia. If your mind is trying to resolve things, your dreams can bleed into the waking world. Dreams in their own way mean something, and so can waking dreams, visions, etc.

i had a painting fall off a wall in the middle of the night that had been there for years with zero issues, on a second floor apt next to train tracks. Had that painting not fallen off the wall when it did, i would not have woken up to blow out the candle that was dripping wax and about to catch all the christmas decorations on fire.

some kind of ghost/spirit saved my ass one night, only explanation i have.

What Cantaloupe said about the rat and electrical system. Might be worth paying attention to any other 'odd' phenomena you notice. Brain tumors and other issues can affect your perception of reality. It's probably just a ghost, but potential health problems work out best when caught early.

There's a few common things and some uncommon ones.

Electrical forces are really incredibly forceful. Consider you've never actually touched anything with your hand, instead that's an E field that stops your hand and your fingers sense.

The light was likely knocked over by a rat.

Electrical fields are also oscillating in complex ways, and can move things.

If you're electrical system system is fucked up there can be spikes. Magnetic fields, odd things. And an electrician would likely not know how to determine that. Unless they have a degree or know the math.

Then your brain is complex as hell, and really invents reality for us.

Also if you have mercury poisoning, etc. You can see what isn't there, figures.

And sound waves, if you have 18.9Hz standing waves - based upon the dimension of the room, you'll tend to see ghosts, due to the effects on the brain. There may be a genetic component. A cube with side lengths of approximately 5.7 meters (or about 18 feet) would exhibit strong resonances near 18.9Hz.

Also there are heating and cooling effects on wood, which sounds like someone outside your door. It's a lot of force.

Then there are people who may have a key to your house or who are insane. So set up a number of cameras.

So determine the situation is outside yourself. Have had premonitions, but they always were experienced with other witnesses and could be due to logic. If it's only you, check your health. Although the light implies a rat or squirrel, and rats can exit through relatively tiny holes.
