It totally will happen. Russia's biggest strategic challenge of the ukraine operation is what happens afterwards. They don't want to take full responsibility for the trash cities, which have about thirty years of deferred maintenance. They don't want the people, who are useless pensioners and people who hate Russia. They really only want a portion of the land, which is industrialized and has ag potential, along with those people who are and always were Russian. This leaves a rump state next door that they want nothing to do with. Solution? Make them Europe's problem.
