The jewmercials were all over talk radio awhile back. I thought it was fake and gay bullshit. My grandfather flew B-17s in the South Pacific, you know, the rattle can with 13 50 cal machine guns on it? Yeah, and he had no hearing problems.

The B-17 crew members wore headsets inside soft leather helmets.. which provided some hearing protection.

Yeah, I thought of that after I posted. They would have frozen to death otherwise. A better example might have been ground troops of the era. Did they wear any ears at all? To my knowledge, all that was available was wax at that time.

I have no idea about ground troops TBH. I'd imagine they might only wear hearing protection during sustained engagements.

You wouldn't want to wear wax plugs or something similar if you were patrolling.

That’s what I thought. You wanna hear every twig snap, every leaf crunch. Hell, under that pressure, you can hear a leaf when it snaps free from its branch, before it makes swirling sounds in the breeze, prior to landing on the other leaves.
The fags we have now wear the high tech headsets with nois cancelling. I have a cheap pair of those and they’re a trip. Turn it up too high and you can hear the leaves depart from their branches before they hit the ground.
