meds just pretend to treat symptoms because they cannot really treat the illnesses nor there is any true desire to make ppl whole.

its a fact that anti depressants numbs the hell out of you and anti anxiety medications can be dangerously addictive

its true, meds cannot treat what originates in the mind and soul. if yours are sick then chances are will stay that way until you die.

I think most of what they are treating as a profession are not illnesses at all. They are personalities which are largely genetically determined. If I had a big nose or small tits, I might go to the plastic surgeon to get them fixed, but they are not illness, the are genetic variations. People have neurotic or psychopathic behavioral traits because they have been useful in certain contexts in our evolution. They are not necessarily optimal now and make life difficult for an individual or the people around them . Theres no pill that fixes these inconvenient traits in most situations. Some may improve some behaviors but come with a bunch of side effects.

Psychologists and psychiatrists like to make their discipline seem very scientific and reliable but they are usually just throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks. There’s no burden whatsoever for them to prove that any therapy works or improves people’s lives. When patients fail to improve they are told they didnt try hard enough. Imagine a surgeon saying that to a patient with a tumor! Its pseudo-science.

To some extent, positive results their patients/victims experience are due to having someone to talk to. Although the psychiatrists are mainly looking to hook you up with profitably drugs.

You can see a psychologist or therapist for that. Psychiatrists are medical doctors and can prescribe pills (hence the MD in his name).
