It's probably about $10k but over a lifetime way way cheaper than replacing worn posts, stakes or door jams.

Cattle farming is cruel. Young bulls get castrated, sent to cramped feed lots, and then killed inhumanely at slaughter houses by illegal spics.

Do I give a shit? No, not really. But unless you're buying meat from family farms who control every step of the process, chances are the cow was tortured at some point in its life.

Yup, raising your own is both more humane and cleaner, no worrying about what the meat's been injected with. I'm hoping to find a good homesteading community in the next few years.

Sheep are much much easier to raise and process than cattle. Larger birds like turkey are better than chickens too. Honestly turkey and lamb are the most viable options for home steaders. Both are delicious when cooked properly as well.

Duck eggs are good and I've heard ducks are better at fighting off predators than most birds. I'll probably do a mix. Larger cattle will depend a lot on the land I find.

Plus they become a free source of magic mushrooms and who doesn’t want to eat too many of those every once in a while
