How much of a twat was this guy that he didn't notice that it was open while driving? Wouldn't the draft be the first of many clues?

He knew, and wanted the breeze, because e-cars usually don't have AC

Whereas the government is trying to take away our mobility, they love giving it to fucking invaders. They don't know how to drive, and the government just allows them to.

"All out. Only got diesel. Richard, what'd you do?!?"

[ - ] HelenHighwater 8 points 1.8 yearsJul 19, 2023 13:22:28 ago (+8/-0)

The cost to fix those is so high, that the insurance will probably write it off as a scrap.

[ - ] La_Chalupacabra 5 points 1.8 yearsJul 19, 2023 15:01:03 ago (+5/-0)

That's what I've been hearing.
They also have to be 'quarantined' in scrap yards due to the fire risk, which drives up expenses even more, and, without missing a beat, the insurance companies spike their rates.
Everything about these EV's is eventually going to drive the common person out of vehicle ownership, electric or otherwise.

[ - ] PotatoWhisperer2 11 points 1.8 yearsJul 19, 2023 15:09:58 ago (+11/-0)

As is the entire point. Limiting your mobility is key to controlling you.

[ - ] La_Chalupacabra 4 points 1.8 yearsJul 19, 2023 15:16:52 ago (+4/-0)

On a related note: I got my first taste of a 15-minute city the other day.
They're converting one of the busiest parts of town into what can only be described as a royal clusterfuck when it's finally opened to traffic.
It's gonna be a shitshow and I can see how anybody who doesn't live over there wouldn't want to drive into that mess; exactly what the owners want.

[ - ] PotatoWhisperer2 2 points 1.8 yearsJul 19, 2023 15:20:46 ago (+2/-0)

Yeah, our area is turning from rural White suburbs to... Something else. This comes with city-level traffic clusterfucks, and the county is just making it worse with all sorts of completely random bullshit thrown into streets that don't need it.

You can just tell they're diversity hiring.

[ - ] La_Chalupacabra 1 point 1.8 yearsJul 19, 2023 15:27:08 ago (+1/-0)

Let me guess: all kinds of physical traffic controls that make no sense if the objective was to get drivers to their destination as quickly as possible?
For instance, the public library here has to be accessed by driving down the street a block and a half, pulling through a bank parking lot, then approaching from the other lane, all because the city installed medians blocking the opposite lanes at all entrances.
This also has the added annoyance of preventing vehicles from pulling U-turns at the nearby rail crossing if the train is taking too long.

[ - ] Hobama 0 points 1.8 yearsJul 19, 2023 16:30:33 ago (+0/-0)

Its about time for concerned citizens to start clearing up the bullshit.

[ - ] PotatoWhisperer2 0 points 1.8 yearsJul 19, 2023 21:12:23 ago (+0/-0)

Yup, exactly this bullshit.

[ - ] Clubberlang 0 points 1.8 yearsJul 19, 2023 22:00:33 ago (+0/-0)

Get a truck that won't ever be a problem.

[ - ] La_Chalupacabra 0 points 1.8 yearsJul 20, 2023 18:12:28 ago (+0/-0)

Heh, that was the joke I made when we encountered that 15-minute city I mentioned: "If we had taken my truck, I would have driven around the barriers and construction and saved us all the hassle and wasted time."

[ - ] NoRefunds 2 points 1.8 yearsJul 19, 2023 17:52:48 ago (+2/-0)

I can see how anybody who doesn't live over there wouldn't want to drive into that mess

the point of the 15 minute city is that people that live there only use that area and people that don't aren't allowed in, they have to stay in their own 15 minute city. It is a ghetto.

[ - ] La_Chalupacabra 1 point 1.8 yearsJul 19, 2023 18:22:45 ago (+1/-0)

Incrementalism is how they accomplish shit is the US.
By slowly ratcheting up the pressure, they coax Americans into giving up their rights/freedom willingly.
By making travel by personal vehicle as difficult and frustrating as possible, more and more drivers will capitulate.

[ - ] Stonkmar 0 points 1.8 yearsJul 19, 2023 15:49:49 ago (+0/-0)

Once self driving cars iron all the kinks out, there will be no need to own a vehicle. It will all be subscription based, like a bus pass or Netflix. You schedule a car to arrive when you want and it takes you.

[ - ] Anus_Expander 4 points 1.8 yearsJul 19, 2023 17:01:40 ago (+4/-0)

Unless you posted wrongthink online

[ - ] PotatoWhisperer2 1 point 1.8 yearsJul 19, 2023 21:11:34 ago (+1/-0)

You schedule a car to arrive when you want and it takes you.

Maybe it takes you to gulag, maybe it takes you to work, maybe it takes you to grocery store. Maybe.

Considering how fucking fat people are getting I'm 50/50 on it.

without missing a beat, the insurance companies spike their rates.

I didn't notice that. Although I agree with the rest of your point. If insurance went up up to 25% over the past 3 years, that's inflation. It would have to go up more.

[ - ] La_Chalupacabra 0 points 1.8 yearsJul 19, 2023 20:33:37 ago (+0/-0)

Predictive programming.
Been seeing a lot of reports on how it's going to jack up the rates, and you know how they love to announce their plans to your face.

[ - ] Clubberlang 0 points 1.8 yearsJul 19, 2023 22:06:53 ago (+0/-0)

Now it's tied to your roof and your social credit score!

[ - ] ModernGuilt 0 points 1.8 yearsJul 19, 2023 18:06:33 ago (+0/-0)

I mean, the dude probably trashed the entire unibody of the car. Itd be scrapped regardless

[ - ] Clubberlang 0 points 1.8 yearsJul 19, 2023 21:58:28 ago (+0/-0)

Good news for you.

You can buy it for 5k and put a real engine in it.

shouldnt the door close automatically?

[ - ] bonghits4jeebus 0 points 1.8 yearsJul 19, 2023 18:16:52 ago (+0/-0)

It probably does not for safety reasons because coming down on someone is also bad news. I know they have a finger sensor, but IDK how much you want to rely on that.

[ - ] HeavyBrain 2 points 1.8 yearsJul 19, 2023 12:27:53 ago (+2/-0)

Well the door on one of those "stone age climate killers" would have probably shut itself from the car motion.

Fuck it while the door is being repaired he may aswell get the batteries changed, after all its been 10000 miles.

Ha! Turned out to be entertaining
