Do it. There are lots of Live CD versions you can copy to a USB stick and easily multiboot with Ventoy, etc. You just copy the downloaded iso/image to the USB and reboot where you select which one to run.

A lot of them try to make phone-type simple bubbly GUIs. I've come to really like KDE (e.g. Kubuntu) for staying more functional and detailed like older desktop operating systems.

Anyone dumb enough or oblivious enough to buy HP products deserve what they get. They're one of the worst companies in the world.
