When you look at Robert E Lee on the battlefield, he was a good commander. When you pull back and look at the larger picture and see what he had to work with and his accomplishments, he’s a brilliant commander. When you pull back further and see what started him on this path, he was one of the best fighting generals in history. He did this all on that horse. He had the respect of Ulysses S Grant.
