That would be the reactor that is powering the spaceship, we refer to as "The Moon"

It's why the moon rings like a bell.

Its why the astronauts who landed there were freaked out when they came back.
Its why the craters match electrical arcs, not asteroid impacts.
Its why its orbit is nearly circular.
Its why it appears to have voids inside.
Its why its distance to the sun gives a perfect solar eclipse.
Its why there are metals and compounds that shouldn't be there.
Its why there are ancient stories of a time before the moon.
Its why we haven't been back.
We are not allowed.

Earth's seasonal cycles would be not conducive to life without it.

Aliens found this planet millions if not billions of years ago and have been making it suitable for life ever since.
The moon is their ship, the moon is their home. The moon is what stabilized the earth for life.

Planets even remotely capable of nurturing life are EXTREMELY rare in the Universe. Without the moon, there would be no people.

We are the terraformed planet. We are the zoo.

The real question now is are they currently making the planet suitable for them or us?

Always found it interesting that, regardless of their diameter, and the amount of impact energy that was apparently required to create them, none of the moon's craters go beneath a certain depth. Even the deepest only go just so far down, and then just...stop.

I knew Uncle A made it out.

And India claims to be going to the moon very soon.

With machines or people?

Actually, it blasted off Friday. Just a moon rover, apparently.

Yeah, the moon people don't allow humans back.
Blowing up our satellites would be to obvious, so they dont.

We got a one time visit, told to clean up our shit before we come back.

Its gonna be a while.
