Given they cost a few hundred bucks...I think they'd be an invitation for theft?

A dash cam kept me out of jail and saved me thousands of dollars. A guy hit me while I was stopped waiting for a lane merge. Then he drove away. So, I went home, called my insurance company and reported the accident. Mentioned I had a video and uploaded it to my insurance. Well, it turns out that yahoo called the police and reported me for Hit and Run. The police were at my door to arrest me. He had a witness and everything! My word against his, I was going to jail. Then I told the officer the real story and then showed him my dashcam. He watched it, told me have a nice day and left. It gets better, turns out he had the same insurance company as I did and reported the accident as me being the hit and run driver. My agent told me the funny story. All calls are recorded and after he made his statement, the agent paused the recording and said listen, the other driver had a dash cam. Nothing you just said is on that video. Would you like to re do your statement? They ended up paying for all my damage. So yes, dashcam are risky and might be stolen but to me they are worth every penny.

Yesterday, when I drove to the grocery store, there were three separate yellow line violations that could have killed me.

Two boomers and one teenage girl.

Yea dash cam seems like a good purchase

Do they make a combination radar detector and dashcam or a mount for such?

The radar detector is what I have hanging off my windshield. So far that's kept me out of more trouble. hitting things = rare speeding = common

I even did a hit and run and then turned myself in. I'm not about to deal with niggers at 3am unless I have to.

Hundreds of dollars? I bought a holder that you can stick your cell phone into for $25.

I think they are removable. Otherwise I can't explain why they are so popular in some countries.

They just make sense, like police body cams. When there is a shooting it makes sense to have that extra piece of footage, so we can clearly see that police just flat out murdered someone because he could. My favorite body cam footage is where a police officer turned off his body cam not realizing he couldn’t and then it proceeded to film him planting drugs on an innocent victim. (Victim was a piece of shit and deserved to rot in hell, but two wrongs don’t make a right.)
