A CNN article on the train wreck happened to mention that in 2021, over 16,000 Indians died from 'trains'. 16,000 in one year. Appears to indicate a level of function that's a bit lower than we would expect.

If i understand correct, part of it was supposed to be demolished due to severe flaws, but more than planed collapsed.
