I think that is why the majority of people are with their spouses after year 15.

Even affairs arent worth the hassle of leaving, a person would risk not having the kids at all times and have no control over who gets put in their lives.

Sorry for your situation, but I don't know the cause. Unless your wife cheated on you, or is a junkie, at the end common sense always prevails. Sometimes married couples get to fight because of stress, but normal couples never divorce. Divorce is caused by serious mental problems.

High investment parenting is the only reason to stay with a woman these days. I love my Wife, but if she hadn't given me two sons I would have moved on by now.
You don't have to stay with her till death, just till the boy turns 18. That way she can't clean you out and take everything.
Think of this as time to plan and prepare. Assets can be hidden or protected from her lawyer. Physical and mental self improvements can be developed to keep you desirable as you age.
I know a rich prick that does this like every 10 years or less. He spoils the woman till she's rotten and ruined. Then when she leaves, he pays her off, and finds a new twenty-something gold digger. Wash, rinse, repeat. He's on his 4th cycle of this in his mid 50's, just picked up a new one that's barely old enough to drink.
