The fact that there are other CPUs on the bus not under control of the OS is fairly well known. I'm not saying I know exactly how ME works. But the capabilities he's describing I would take for granted given the architecture.
Does using Linux actually protect you from something like IME? Can't the CIA just make their own Linux malware that can target Linux users that utilizes IME?
Those Intel Chromeboobs without IME - do you know if there any that can boot Windows or Linux?
Yeas; you need to use MrChromebox. Short version: Remove the write protect screw (look it up for location), reboot Chromebox/Chromebook in dev mode. Run a few scripts from MrChromebox's website (only works on x86 chips, not arm) and reboot to a wiped chromebook with the ability to boot from USB. Then you can install Linux or Windows. (You need an expensive Chromebook to install Windows as most Chromebooks range from 16gb to 64gb of storage, you need more than 64 for Windows if you are going to put anything on it and still be able to run updates) ... https://mrchromebox.tech/static/fwscript.html
Yes Chromebooks can firmware flash Mrchromebox firmware , then you install GalliumOS (Linux for chromebooks) or recent Linux distros that support the chromebook firmware
My dad told me about this tech, at least in theory, over 20 years ago. I've had blue tape over every camera lens since. Rarely take it off, just for sentimental photographs.
Your phone case should be soundproof and completely metallic to avoid your phone spying on you at all times. When you go buy a phone case it's not a phone case and let it sound proof and completely metallic. It should either have a metallic lining like a foil or it can actually be metallic. Just realized that if you don't have a phone case like this that you basically plastered a microphone and a camera as well as all the other sensors including GPS tracking to your body for anyone who wants to listen to listen. Not only listen but hack and do things in your name.
Oh and if you're standing with anybody including your wife your girlfriend your kids and they have a phone and they don't have their phone in such a case then it's just as bad.

Make your own CPU? You are going to have to get in touch with the Taiwanese to do manufacturing.
At that point I think it would be easier to cobble together something like a computer out of open source microcontrollers than it would be to make a CPU.
There was of course no way of knowing whether you were being watched at any given moment. How often, or on what system, the Thought Police plugged in on any individual wire was guesswork. It was even conceivable that they watched everybody all the time. But at any rate they could plug in your wire whenever they wanted to. You had to live did live, from habit that became instinct in the assumption that every sound you made was overheard, and, except in darkness, every movement scrutinized.
The man has been right about a lot of things, just not about the nutritional value of dead skin on his feet. Despite being a filthy hippy, I still regard him as one of the greatest contributor to mankind's technological progress.

As far as I know they've been doing this since 2011, but by 2015 definitely everything was compromised. If you want a non-compromised computer get one from before 2011.
Couldn't you detect nefarious activity by watching the perimeter with outside hardware? This means looking for uncommanded network activity, etc. Also, couldn't someone instrument the FSB to look for access? Or should I assume all access happens inside the chip via normally requested cache lines? So then we're back to square one with uncommanded peripheral behavior.
Honestly I think phones are the bigger threat. Can we even intercept and decode our own phone's transmissions? Remember that if one person catches this in action then the gig is up. I really don't think they'll be using it on something as hackable as Ethernet unless the reward is worth the risk.
The Federal Blackmail Institute needs to be dismantled, its the forgone conclusion of these intel agents to eventually use their tech to blackmail their own countries leaders, the blackmail community runs America by proxy.
We really need a total restructure of how these intel agency's operate, their probably better off being replaced with a neutral AI.
"their probably better off being replaced with a neutral AI." Ha, you think one minute it will be a neutral AI?? Not even close. It will be soooo communist programmed to continue the brainwashing. That's how the dumbocraps roll.

Take a look at the fully open source section: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_open-source_hardware
Then in theory you have to be the one to manufacture it to really know what's in it.

It can communicate with other nearby electronic devices.
Phone comms uses backend systems with a line drop analyzed by AI. So there is no privacy. Except maybe from companies like Facebook or Google.

AMD, in the lastest BIOS update, added the ability to turn PSP off in BIOS.
And, it's not like the movies, bro. There's not a secret backdoor into everyone's computer 24/7.
There is an exploitable architecture, but that cuts two ways.
