I think most here would find this book particularly interesting at this time considering it's setting, themes, and ultimate message:

The Master and Margarita (Russian: Мастер и Маргарита) is a novel by Soviet writer Mikhail Bulgakov, written in the Soviet Union between 1928 and 1940 during Stalin's regime. A censored version, with several chapters cut by editors, was published in Moscow magazine in 1966–1967, after the writer's death, by his widow. The manuscript was not published as a book until 1967, in Paris. A samizdat version circulated that included parts cut out by official censors, and these were incorporated in a 1969 version published in Frankfurt. The novel has since been published in several languages and editions.
The story concerns a visit by the devil and his entourage to the officially atheistic Soviet Union. The devil, manifested as one Professor Woland, challenges the Soviet citizen's beliefs towards religion and condemns their behavior throughout the book. The Master and Margarita combines supernatural elements with satirical dark comedy and Christian philosophy, defying categorization within a single genre. Many critics consider it to be one of the best novels of the 20th century, as well as the foremost of Soviet satires.

You can find a DVD rip and subtitles in the usual places. It's eight hours, but well worth your time.

The basic premise of the story almost fascinates me enough, though. It was suggested to me when I asked a very close Russian friend to suggest any material related to Russian mysticism/esotericism, thinking, obviously, in terms of non-fiction. I'm very glad this is what was suggested to me. Russia, it turns out, is a very fascinating people.

I agree, that's always better. The TV adaptation will always be there when you want to see it.

Your English is nearly, but not quite, perfect. You make some subtle, but obvious to me, mistakes that many of my Eastern European friends make.

Title was "TIL The most rich man in Iran was Jewish", and everyone enjoyed the bad English usage. I commented with this: " The one who's managing his account today is French Canadian. In French it would be 'l'homme le plus riche'."
Do you mean Nabokov? I thought "Lolita" was deviant and depraved, and Nabokov thought his protagonist Humbert Humbert was despicable. It was also one of his weakest novels.
You're an obvious troll.
