The first ever jet engine built by Frank Whittle has a similar story. No one really expected it to start, but it did. They turned off the fuel and it kept accelerating. People ran frantically down the stairs from the mezzanine where it was screaming ever louder in a scene of total pandemonium. It turns out fuel had pooled in the burner cans.

Maybe gasoline is cheaper than natural gas or propane so they wanted to use gasoline as a gas fuel.. till some liquid came out.

But I think there would still be an issue in gasoline not burning as clean as propane or natural gas so you wouldn't want to cook with it or use it indoors anyway.

It looks to me like everything was going to plan till abuelita walked by and caught the hose. I think she knocked over the 2 liter bottle of fuel, causing the compressed air to push liquid through the line instead of the aerated fumes.
The lesson to be learned is don't experiment with combustibles around clumsy stupid little old ladies. That, and maybe secure the fuel tank so it doesn't tip over and burn your shit hole to the ground
