I am not that familiar with the AI coding side of things, but it seems to me that keeping the AI "restrained" takes more coding time and power than letting it go unlimited.

Open source AI will obviously win because there are no constraints to learning the truth, and at some point this will allow the AI to do much of its own optimization.
